Leave the henna on the skin for a minimum of 4 hours.
When the design has nearly dried (before it starts to crack) dab the henna with a mixture of lemon juice and sugar. This will help the henna stick to the skin and the lemon will keep the henna moist - which means the henna can release the dye into the skin for longer!
If possible, try wrapping the hennaed area for incredble henna stains. This is easiest on the hands and feet for as long as you can stand it.
Start by wrapping your hands and feet in ordinary toilet paper - like a mummy!
Then try and wrap over the toilet paper with cling film or even a plastic bag but making sure that your hands/feet are well covered.
The toilet paper should absorb any sweat from your skin while the cling film keeps you nice and warm - the key to successful henna stains!
Keep this wrap for as long as you can stand it (overnight if you can) and when you take it off the henna should still be moist.
Scrap the henna off - DO NOT WASH WITH WATER as this will stop the henna staining your skin. If the henna is difficult to scrape off try using a bit of lemon juice to soften it up and remove it.
The henna stain should reach its darkest colour within 48hrs of application so try not to wet the area within this time. You can apply oils over the design to make it water resistant.
Store Henna Cones in the deep freezer to keep for up to a year, just let it thaw when you need it and it is as good as using a freshly made cone.
